Evidence is mounting for a new form of life called nanobacteria. Some researchers suspect nanobacteria may be responsible for a wide range of ailments. One problem: They are less than 100 nanometers across — smaller than viruses — and according to current theory this means they are too small to contain the DNA and proteins needed for replication. Idea: Perhaps they cooperate to replicate then — each of them could contain some of what is needed and the entire colony could replicate as a whole? In any case, a very interesting read!
