It’s mind blowing. An object I conceived of and had made, which was in my house, that I held in my hand, and once carried in my pocket, is now orbiting the sun for millions of years, near the asteroid belt, moving faster than a bullet, in a red Tesla Roadster.
Many times a day I have these moments where it hits me – how far away that object is now! As if I threw it from my house all the way past Mars. It might even still have my fingerprints on it. How can this be real?
It is a small object. Just a piece of quartz glass. Yet for someone who has dreamed about space for a lifetime it is so amazing and life changing.
